Chavurah
Chavurah Means Friend.
A Chavurah is a community fellowship that exemplifies the values of Judaism and extends JCC membership. Each group has its own age group, personality, and interests. Chavurah members get together monthly or more for special events, dining out, parties, holiday activities, and more. Most groups have between 12 and 20 members and a chairperson who helps plan activities and notify members of upcoming events. These friendship groups often become an extended family over time.
The JCC of Southern Nevada has over 20 separate Chaverot. There are groups for couples, young singles, business and professional singles, single parents, young families, older singles, retired people, and gays and lesbians. We also host different groups in various parts of town, such as Summerlin and Henderson,Overseeing the Chavurot and placing members in various groups are volunteer Chavurah coordinators, Rosalie Baker and Resa Snyder. They review new applications and place the individual or couple in the appropriate group that meets their needs and interests.
The only requirement for participation in a Chavurah, is a JCC Membership.
For additional information, please call Resa Snyder at 794-0090 Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
